For the homeless in need of medical assistance or requiring shelter after a stay in hospital.
THE IDEA
Providing medical assistance for homeless people, who by default cannot benefit from prescribed home visits.
FOCUS ON
The medically-supported homeless shelter in Maubeuge, Paris
The unit was established in 2003 to provide the homeless with a stable environment in which they can receive the medical care they could otherwise be receiving at home. The average duration of stay is 51 days.
After a four-day assessment patients are offered a health care contract defining the nature and the duration of medical care.
Further social assistance can be provided ; for example the assistance team may draft a social inclusion plan jointly with the care beneficiary.
