The Needs
For individuals with mental or minor physical disabilities.
THE IDEA
To provide recognition by training and work, while developing high value-added, adapted jobs.
FOCUS ON
The La Caravelle work integration social enterprise, Nemours
From about 2,766 tons of wood and 11 million nails, this small business produces 130,000 pallets every year. It is actually a work integration social enterprise (WISE), run by and for disabled people. The 27 disabled employees have a mental or minor physical disability.
The company runs four smaller businesses, namely perfume packaging, landscape architecture and care, house cleaning, and diverse packaging. Every employee spends some time in each before choosing one.
The apprenticeship lasts a year and a half on average. About 40 employees live in the residence, while leisure activities, designed to slow regression, are offered to the nine other individuals with severe disabilities preventing them from working, and 10 employees are offered special social assistance.
