The Needs
For extreme situations, as in 94% of the cases children will never return to their original families. On average children stay 30 months in foster families.
THE IDEA
To provide a new permanent home.
Foster families have to provide both an upbringing and emotional support, welcoming the child as their own. This is a real job, and is identified as such by Groupe SOS’s teams, who train foster parents and give them allowances. A thorough preparation is undertaken with the child’s birth family for the child to find a new parental figure while preserving the existing one.
On average children stay 30 months in foster families.
